Amaia D’Souza

I am currently in my final year of my MSc Physiotherapy degree and have so far gained clinical hands-on experience across MSK, Paediatrics and Amputees settings. I also have a background in Sport and Exercise Science (BSc), Sports Massage, and a PGCert in Optimisation of Health for Performance in Irish Dancers.

I am an elite Irish dancer (dancing for almost 15 years), and have competed internationally, including the World Irish dancing championships. My passion for sports therapy/physiotherapy developed through first-hand experience of managing multiple dance-related injuries, which has given me a deep insight into the physical demands required to perform at an elite level and the importance of moving well, recovering safely and staying strong.
I have supported local charities (Epilepsy and Multiple Sclerosis UK), through sports massage and have a particular interest in foot and ankle health, given the high mechanical demands placed on this area in most sports.
In my free time I enjoy training in the gym, and dancing. I am always looking for new ways to challenge my physical performance, and would like to compete in a hyrox and try out some new fitness challenges one day.
My aim is to bring together my experience as a competitive dancer with my clinical knowledge to support active individuals through injury prevention and rehabilitation.
